Speaking to the club’s official website, departing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has had some kind words to say about new signing James Milner.
“He’s a proven winner – I think he’s still hungry,” he said. “I know he’s a very fit boy*, very professional and he won’t let anyone down. I know James very well and he’ll be very eager to come and prove to Liverpool fans that he’s good enough to be in the XI.”
*And we have the stats to prove it…
DOES THE DAY END IN A Y? Of course we have Raheem Sterling rumours today. The Manchester Evening News says Manchester City are set to return with an improved bid for the Liverpool star, while The Sun claims they have set aside £100 million to spend on Paul Pogba (£60m) and Sterling (£40m).

Tottenham fans, be afraid. Be VERY afraid. Another day, another batch of Harry Kane rumours. Today’s transfer talk sees the Daily Mirror reporting that Manchester United are set to lodge a £40 million bid for the Spurs star.
With David De Gea seemingly on his way to Real Madrid, Manchester United have reportedly turned to Atletico Madrid – just as they did four years ago – for a new goalkeeper. According to AS, Jan Oblak – so impressive in the Champions League last season – is a target for Louis van Gaal.
If Petr Cech does join (along with Arsene Wenger’s other top targets), here’s a little look at how Arsenal could be lining up next season…

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to step up their plans to sign Petr Cech and hope to complete an £11 million deal for the goalkeeper by the end of next week.
PLOT TWIST. The Daily Telegraph says Chelsea want Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as part of the deal.
Shane JR: “Wilshere needs to CONCENTRATE! singing songs about Spurs is no way of improving…. Start watching great legends like PIRLO… study his movements and his passing… if next season Wilshere is not assisting more or becoming a box-to-box midfielder then he will be judged. Cazorla is doing great in his position and I do not want to see Caz go….”
Seriously, what is happening to the world when clubs are buying players simply because they’re homegrown? SMH. First up today, Jack Wilshere – and he doesn’t want to be making up the numbers wherever he plays…
“I definitely wouldn’t go somewhere just because I’m a homegrown player,” he said. “I’d want to be wanted by a club. I want to be wanted by Arsenal. I’ve grown up at Arsenal, I’m a homegrown player and, as long as Arsenal want me, then I’m happy.”
Hellooooo, readers! We want transfer news, you want transfer news. We want transfer rumours, you want transfer rumours. Well guess what? Over the next TEN HOURS, that’s exactly what we’ve got.

So… remember when Yaya Toure said he was staying at Manchester City? Roberto Mancini reckons he’s been in talks with the Ivorian for MONTHS and believes a move to Inter could still happen.
“I spent six months explaining to him what he would find at Inter, then he spoke with his club and he fell off of our radar,” he told La Stampa. “But I haven’t given up on this.”
“Competition for places across the squad is important and Scott’s arrival certainly brings that to the goalkeeping department,” new boss Paul Clement told the club’s official website. “Scott is an experienced goalkeeper who has played at the highest level for a number of years and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
The done deals keep on coming! Derby have completed the signing of goalkeeper Scott Carson on an initial two-year deal from Wigan.
