These are the words of Mr. Alamgir Sheikh, the president of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) for 41st National Snooker Championship, which finished in Karachi at Movenpick Hotel on Saturday.
Not very famous Muhammad Bilal beats became the new national champion after beating Sohail Shehzad 7-5 in the final.
Alamgir was ecstatic that lesser-known players are coming up in the form of the winner Bilal and his opponent in finals Shehzad. “This is the best tally in a single national championship. It’s a clear indicator that Pakistan snooker and cueists are only improving with each passing day.”
Alamgir is sending both Bilal and Shehzad for upcoming Asian Championship in April, courtesy of finishing as the winner and runner-up. “If given another slot, we could send Asif as well,” he added.
Shahzad find himself in final with lead of 4-2 at one point, after beating veterans Mohammad Sajjad and Mohammad Asif in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. His victory was clear but Punjab-based Muhammad Bilal put up amazing fight to steal victory from him.
